We've joined forces with the illustrious label Blank Artists to build a music store that is the best of both worlds - Blank style and NECODO code. Blank Artists is a collective based out of Detroit whose output leans toward techno yet cannot be definitively pinned down. Their new store allows them to keep control of their branding while offering a seamless download experience all about getting their music to the consumer as effortlessly as possible. Blank Artist Josh Dahlberg is back with a brooding pulsating subdued yet slightly threatening 3 track ep. There is nothing depressing about these works. Instead they contain a seriousness that harks to the forefathers of techno as well as re-pave the much traveled road for upstarts in America. Big effects and throbbing acid bass lines predominate AM Brain which quickly grabs your attention and doesn't relinquish it until the last pulse fades away. OMGPHEEK is punctuated with unique snares, quirky machine sounds, unintelligible vocals and nice effect laden builds which are strategically located to keep the minimal yet engaging vibe live enough to have a bouncing dance floor. Phenotypical Pinner gets straight to the point with gurgled bass lines and a hand clap that drives the track within the 1st minute. Again Dahlberg digs deep to put his own signature on most of the sounds he uses to create atmospheric and unique techno tracks. As co-head of the 3-year old Blank label he continues to grow as a producer as he showcases not only a label continuing to rise. Dahlberg also demonstrates that just because the 2nd and 3rd wave of Detroit producers have all succumbed to the Berlin temptation there is always someone else to step in and fill the production line in the rust belt music mecca. Known as much for his cats, long hair and beard among the "purists and minimalists" in techno as his straight up old school jakking acid house, Wilson is almost an anomaly. Corn dogs and analog go hand in hand in this man's mind. DJ Pierre, Adonis, and Phuture would be proud of the modulation and tweaking that come through the speakers on this release. Harkening back to when Rave was what "parties" were called and warehouse walls dripped with sweat like they were melted by acid. His drum programming is not to be ignored nor are the sweeping chords that fill in the spaces that were left by the godfathers of this movement with emotion and positive dance energy. It is no wonder acid house used the smiley face emblem as a mantra and logo of sorts. Jared has taken it back and made us all want to wave our hands in the air, smile, sweat and dance the night away.
