About The Band

About The Band

KnowSleep's self-titled release is the first offering from Seattle label Street Ritual Recordings. Out everywhere July 1st (but available early on Necodo.com), KnowSleep is a collaboration between KnowOne & Sleepyhead, and features verbal blessings by Taylor Maiden Space from Goddess Alchemy Project & Seasunz, who appeared most recently on Bassnectar's "Underground Communication."

KnowSleep is a clever fusion between hiphop & electronics. The star around which everything revolves is the production, which is thick in bass tones, complex yet transparent drum programming, and beautiful melodies. KnowSleep is a head-nodding hiphop lover's icy journey, but the destination is viscous, even unimportant. KnowSleep is on a spiritual journey, and you would be wise to join them.

About The Label

About The Label

Andrew Luck has been parading his fun-loving self around town for a minute now, making friends and dancing partners in the process. Now he's got a label, and it's all over for the competition. Street Ritual was conceived by Knowa KnowOne, Andrew Luck and Sleepyhead in the fall of 2007. It was simply a platform focused on music around them, most of which sat firmly between several genres. There was a sound that could only be described as whomp – it had depth, experimentation and heavy bass grooves…and it was bubbling up and down West Coast festivals and dance parties. Drawing influence from the strong burgeoning community surrounding mid-tempo and dub, the Street Ritual sound is indigenous, yet a mosaic of Eastern timbre, primal rhythm, heavy synthesizer bass and break beat. Influenced by visionary art, minimal techno, rap, jam bands, computer music, friends and community. 2008 will see releases from funksters Dosadi, Mimosa, Heyoka, Eye Awaken, Quetzatl and Andrew Luck, with solo outings from Knowa KnowOne and Sleepyhead. Big remixes and new vocal cuts from KnowSleep are on the way. Look out for new mixtapes from Andrew Luck on Mass.Mvmnt and Knowa KnowOne live at Moontribe's 15 Year Anniversary on Streetritual.com.
