Sean Sanders is a member of Groove Media group and owner manager of Prosthetic Pressings. He's always keeping his eyes to the horizon to find quality music that makes him want to move, stuff that he can feel. Sean was kind enough to take some time to chat with me about how he came to be where he is and what the goals are for his slamming label.

NECODO: I understand you have some motivation and help with this label, can you tell me about that?

Sean: My label mate is Marko Peraica I wouldn't be talking to you if it wasn't for him.

NECODO: Damn, big props to Marko, how did you two get this thing going?

Sean: Well first off I was at school at WMC and Marko Peraica was one of my buddies growing up still living in Chicago. He came to visit me and saw how I was living, which was basically just partying and acting like a fool everyday. I had all these ambitions to do something creative for print design in the music industry, but couldn't get the balls/energy to do anything. He called me a loser and that I had wasted my talents. Being the competitive person that I am I proved him wrong. I started designing flyers for clubs and then that triggered me to do shows which helped me to contact people of all types of calibers. Marko was still living in Chicago doing DNB with MIA crew and Combat Records, while I was doing house and techno nights in Michigan...

We had whole different breeds of artists we knew so we decided start a label up. We took our first big step into the great unknown and that's where we are now (9 releases later).

NECODO: There seems to be a whole family affair in Chicago. How did the hook up with GrooveSource Media come about?

Sean: The graphic design thing. I have a company that does C.D. sleeves, 12" jackets, fliers and stickers and stuff. It is awesome to get paid to do what I like.

NECODO: Here's to keeping the music alive in 2008 in the U.S.! Most of you cats up there have some history which seems reflected in the depth of what your putting out.

Sean: I have to admit I was an old party kid back in 93-94. I was around the scene with the second wave of house artists. I stepped back for a bit and went to school at Western Michigan in Kalamazoo where I got my B.of S.. Its half way between Detroit and Chicago. I had to tailor my sounds to that in between sound. I than started my own night that lasted for two and a half years. We started getting into more techno stuff. We decided to get bigger scale, make a label and see what happens. We signed Alex Zalenka as our first artist and started pushing vinyl. We pressed it and here we are this in between techno and jacking house label.

NECODO: Sean, I love it. When Punisher's clam bake hit I was totally , "whoa, what is this." Three releases later and I still feel that way.

Sean: Thanks so much that means allot. That's why we do it. Well its great to break even which digital as let us do. It doesn't cost as much but we still love putting the tangible feeling of vinyl in people's hands.

NECODO: Ok, I should let you go, but before give us an idea of what is on the horizon for you.

Sean: Sure, no problem. We are continuing to work with Alex Bau. He is making some great sounds and it really fits where we are right now. Kind of in between "classic deep Detroit" techno and house. We have to keep the level to high quality like curtis 005. Its got to have those nasty chuggy bass lines.

I am not sure I want to start dropping names but next we have Lee Holman and Dan Curtin’s(PP011) and obviously we are wanting more Punisher and Zalenka. We also have dealings going on with Submerge 101, Florian Mendell, Kooky Scientist, Lee Curtis, and your g.o.d. pals. We also want to step up with more full length releases.
